Saltworks Entertainment

Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Saltworks Entertainment Ltd handles personal information collected through salt.works. We are a New Zealand company and we follow the Privacy Act 2020.

What we collect

Only what you give us. The single form on this site is the "Stay Informed" newsletter signup, which asks for your first name, last name and email address. We do not build profiles, and we do not buy personal information from anyone. We also use Google Analytics to measure how the site is used — see Analytics, below.

Server logs

Our web server keeps standard technical logs — IP address, the page requested, the time, and your browser's user-agent string — which we use to keep the site running and secure.

Why we use it

We use the details you give us in the signup form to send you news about Saltworks and the studios we publish. That is the only thing we use them for. You are giving us that information voluntarily, and you can withdraw it at any time.

Who we share it with

Our mailing list runs on Brevo, which stores the details you submit and sends the emails on our behalf. Brevo processes that information for us and is not permitted to use it for its own purposes. Brevo stores data on servers in the European Union, so your information may be held outside New Zealand. We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with anyone else except where the law requires it. We also use Google Analytics, which is covered in its own section below.

How long we keep it

We keep your details until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove them, after which we delete them from our mailing list.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to see how this site is used — which pages are read, which sites link to us, and roughly which country readers are in. To do that, Google sets cookies in your browser and receives your IP address, the pages you view, and basic device and browser information. We see that as aggregate reporting: we do not use it to identify you, and we do not combine it with anything you send us through a form.

Analytics and overseas transfer

Google processes this information on our behalf on servers outside New Zealand, including in the United States, under Google's own privacy policy and terms. If you would rather not be counted, you can block the cookies in your browser settings or install Google's opt-out add-on from tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout — the site works exactly the same either way. Our Cookie Use Statement lists the specific cookies and how long they last.

Your rights

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Every email we send has an unsubscribe link. To make a request, get in touch through our Contact page. If you are not happy with our response you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.

Keeping it safe

We limit access to personal information to the people who need it, and the site is served over an encrypted connection. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what you give us.

Children

This site is aimed at adults working in games and games media. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

If we change how we handle personal information we will update this page.
